[Stamps] Versaille, animals, Europe and airmail celebrations

Hi all

It's time for another stamps order! This time it came pretty fast: less than a wekk, against a little more than a month last time. Then again I had ordered at the end of November, so I guess it got caught in the Christnas shipping frenzy, and that's probably why my stamps took so long to be delivered. One good lesson: never order stamps around Christmas time!

First I got a bad suprise: my login and password didn't work anymore. The site was revamped recently, I guess they erased all former accounts at the same time. In the end, it took me much longer to complete my order, because I had to create a new account. Maybe it's the reason why they added a bookmark as an extra. Who knows?

Some of the stamps are basic (the Marianne ones) as their aim is to complete the postage on an envelope, but others are so beautiful I thought it could be a nice idea to share them with you. Especially with the persons who won't receive them, lol.

This first set is on the topic of the Versailles Castle. Each of the stamps can be used to send a letter to any country in the world, as long as the letter is not heavier than 20g.

This stamp was created  to celebrate the 50th social european chart of the Council of the European Union. Mmmm, don't ask me what this text is about, I have no clue!

On these stamps, you can see an animal called Alapaga. It makes me realize that I would love to know how the animals that will appear on stamps are chosen.

And last but not least, this stamp commemorate the 100th anniversary of the first airmail trip. It picture Henry Péquet, who was the first airplane pilot to officially transport mail by plane, on Feb.18, 1911.

As I've been writing letters since I was a teenage, I have several stories about that. Here's one of my faves. It was sometime in the 90s. I was writing letters to an American girl with whom I was sharing an interest for fashion and supermodels. One day, in a letter, she told me she was bisexual and she seemed really scared to admit it. I replied normally to her letter, making it clear that it wasn't a problem for me. I also told her that I was happy she decided to talk about something so intimate, that it must have been difficult for her... As you can i...

But not everybody knows what I mean by that. In the letter-writing and swapping world, Booklets are pieces of paper which are stapeled together. It then looks like a small booklet made for one person (the owner) by another person (maker). The booklet is passed on, from one penpal to another. And the last signer has to send it back to the owner. The various types Here is a biref description of the main categories, but there are often new ones popping up! Friendship Books  (FBs): this is the most simple kind. As a signer, you just have to sign with your address and, if you like, some info on what you're looking for (penpal, s...
